How to search: enter the person's legal last and first name, or their Vermont DOC ID number if you have it. Nicknames and misspellings usually return nothing; try fewer letters or a different spelling of the name. Vermont DOC says to use its Inmate Locator to find a person's ID number. Vermont.gov links this official roster.

What the dates mean: any dates shown, such as admission, sentence or projected release dates, come from Vermont DOC's own records. Projected dates can change (for example with earned credits, discipline or parole decisions) and are not a guarantee. Ask Vermont DOC or the facility before making plans around a date.

Release and transfer alerts: Vermont takes part in VINE (official source (opens in new tab)). Families can sign up free on VINELink (opens in new tab) for release, transfer and court-date alerts. It's built mainly for crime victims.

OutSooner does not store or list anyone's name, date of birth or ID number. The search runs on the official site.

Sending money

  • Deposit to the commissary (Keefe Trust) account online through Access Corrections or by mailing a deposit coupon with a money order. Coupons are in facility lobbies and on the DOC site. Fees may apply.
  • That account also funds calls to anyone. VTDOC warns families not to deposit for other people on request; it's often tied to fraud.

Fees change. Check the official Vermont DOC page (opens in new tab) for current fees before you pay.

Phone calls and video visits

  • Calls go through ICSolutions. A Prepaid Collect account pays only for calls to your own number. Help desk: 888-506-8407.
  • VTDOC says no fees or surcharges are added to calls; only taxes apply. If calls get blocked as robocalls, save your facility's ICSolutions number in your contacts (listed on the DOC page).

In-person visiting

  • Each facility sets its own hours (at least six hours a week). Visits last up to two hours, and everyone gets at least one visit a week. Hours are on each facility's page.
  • Video visits on tablets are open to approved visitors, who prepay and schedule them.

Becoming an approved visitor

  • The incarcerated person submits their visitor list. It can have up to 10 people plus one religious visitor, and they're told the result within 10 business days.
  • The list can change every 90 days and stays active after a transfer within Vermont. Bring photo ID.

  • Include a complete name and return address; mail without one can be rejected (DOC Directive 409.05).
  • Since Aug. 14, 2026, mail-in photos go through VTDOC's photo vendor, Pelipost. Property and package rules are on the DOC families page.
