Hawaii SAVIN (VINELink) custody lookup (official) (opens in new tab) Hawaii facility status

How to search: enter the person's legal last and first name, or their Hawaii DCR ID number if you have it. Nicknames and misspellings usually return nothing; try fewer letters or a different spelling of the name. Hawaii DCR's official way to look up custody status is Hawaii SAVIN, powered by VINELink (1-877-846-3444). The four community correctional centers are jails that also hold people finishing felony sentences. Some Hawaii prisoners are housed at Saguaro Correctional Center in Arizona.

What the dates mean: any dates shown, such as admission, sentence or projected release dates, come from Hawaii DCR's own records. Projected dates can change (for example with earned credits, discipline or parole decisions) and are not a guarantee. Ask Hawaii DCR or the facility before making plans around a date.

Release and transfer alerts: Hawaii takes part in VINE (official source (opens in new tab)). Families can sign up free on VINELink (opens in new tab) for release, transfer and court-date alerts. It's built mainly for crime victims.

OutSooner does not store or list anyone's name, date of birth or ID number. The search runs on the official site.

Sending money

  • Since October 18, 2022, Hawaii DCR facilities accept electronic deposits to the inmate trust account through GTL/ViaPath ConnectNetwork. Fees apply.
  • Mailed deposits differ by facility. For example, Halawa takes cashier's checks or official bank drafts from approved visitors only, capped at $250 a month. Check the facility's procedures page first.

Fees change. Check the official Hawaii DCR page (opens in new tab) for current fees before you pay.

Phone calls and video visits

  • All calls (local, inter-island, mainland and international) go through GTL (now ViaPath) to landlines and cell phones. Families can set up an AdvancePay account. Fees apply.
  • Tablets from GTL allow video visit calls. Calls are monitored except legal calls; three-way calls aren't allowed. Don't call the facility to leave messages; in an emergency ask for the Watch Commander.

Fees change. Check the official Hawaii DCR page (opens in new tab) for current fees before you pay.

In-person visiting

  • Each facility posts its own visitation schedule and guidelines and has a visitation hotline (for example Halawa (808) 485-3550, OCCC (808) 832-1633). Call the hotline the day of the visit.
  • Visits are often short and limited in size; Halawa allows one adult and one child per 30-minute visit, and OCCC visits are non-contact and prescheduled.
