5 WDOC prisons from the official WDOC facility list, checked 2026-10-20.

How to search: enter the person's legal last and first name, or their WDOC ID number if you have it. Nicknames and misspellings usually return nothing; try fewer letters or a different spelling of the name. You need the person's inmate number for mail.

What the dates mean: any dates shown, such as admission, sentence or projected release dates, come from WDOC's own records. Projected dates can change (for example with earned credits, discipline or parole decisions) and are not a guarantee. Ask WDOC or the facility before making plans around a date.

Release and transfer alerts: Wyoming takes part in VINE (official source (opens in new tab)). Families can sign up free on VINELink (opens in new tab) for release, transfer and court-date alerts. It's built mainly for crime victims.

OutSooner does not store or list anyone's name, date of birth or ID number. The search runs on the official site.

Phone calls and video visits

  • WDOC's public pages don't name its phone provider. Phone rules are in WDOC Policy 5.402, Inmate Telephone Access. Ask the facility how to get on the person's call list and set up an account.

In-person visiting

  • Each facility posts its own schedule on WDOC's visitation page. For example, the Wyoming Women's Center has morning and afternoon visits Saturday through Monday; arrive by 7:15 AM or 11:45 AM.
  • Proper attire is required, and breaking the rules can end a visit early. The Wyoming State Penitentiary has posted updated in-person visiting information that takes effect Nov. 10, 2026.

Becoming an approved visitor

  • The incarcerated person starts the process by mailing you the Visitor Application (WDOC Form 531) and visiting rules. Complete it and return it to their facility. Children need a Letter of Custodial Consent (Form 532).
  • Every applicant gets an NCIC background check. Visitors may only visit one person in WDOC unless the warden approves.

Mail

  • Address mail with the person's name, inmate number and the facility address (for example: Wyoming State Penitentiary, PO Box 400, Rawlins, WY 82301-0400).
  • WDOC Form 520 summarizes the mail rules for family and friends; mail can be rejected for contraband, threats, codes or gang-related content.
