TDOC FOIL Offender Search (official) (opens in new tab) Tennessee facility status
How to search: enter the person's legal last and first name, or their TDOC (Tennessee) ID number if you have it. Nicknames and misspellings usually return nothing; try fewer letters or a different spelling of the name. Search by name; a date of birth may be needed for common names. Mail must include the person's TDOC number.
What the dates mean: any dates shown, such as admission, sentence or projected release dates, come from TDOC (Tennessee)'s own records. Projected dates can change (for example with earned credits, discipline or parole decisions) and are not a guarantee. Ask TDOC (Tennessee) or the facility before making plans around a date.
OutSooner does not store or list anyone's name, date of birth or ID number. The search runs on the official site.

In-person visiting
- Visits are by appointment only. Approved visitors call the facility to book. Schedules include Saturdays, Sundays and one weekday evening.
- Bring only your photo ID and car keys. Everyone passes security screening, including a body scanner. TDOC's dress code bans items such as sleeveless tops, spandex, camouflage and flip-flops.
- TDOC posts weekend visitation cancellations at the top of its prison pages, so check before you drive.

Becoming an approved visitor
- Every visitor, of any age, needs an approved visitor application on file. Send the completed TDOC visitation application (PDF on the official page) to the person's assigned prison.
- TDOC says applications should be approved or denied within 30 days. The incarcerated person is told the result and is responsible for letting you know.

- Since November 3, 2025, personal mail is scanned and delivered digitally. Address it to: the facility name, the person's committed name and TDOC number, P.O. Box 247, Phoenix, MD 21131.
- Every envelope needs a return name and address. Mail for Women's Therapeutic Residential Center is addressed to West Tennessee State Penitentiary.
- Legal and privileged mail still goes to the prison itself.
