Visit-day checklist: Ohio prisons
What to wear, which ID to bring and what you can carry in, from ODRC's official rules. Pick a prison to add its address, phone and hours. Print it or keep it on your phone.
Before visit day
- ☐ Fill out the visiting application and send it by mail, fax or email to the facility where the person is held, not to ODRC's central mail processing center. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- ☐ The facility tells the incarcerated person when your application is processed, and they let you know the outcome. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- ☐ Wait for approval before you register with ViaPath; registering first may delay your ViaPath approval. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- ☐ ODRC does not publish a typical approval wait. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- ☐ Check for lockdowns or cancelled visits: Ohio facility status.
