Transitional housing and approved addresses in Nevada
Without an approved address, release can be delayed. Here is how it works and where to look.

Transitional housing is not the same as a release program
- Release programs (305, 317, 184, CTP): the person is still serving the sentence, under supervision. See release programs.[8]
- NDOC transition centers (Casa Grande in Las Vegas, NNTH in Reno): the person is still in custody but can work in the community. AR 543 sets who qualifies.[3][4][5]
- Community transitional housing: homes or programs run by groups for after release, often with house rules and recovery support.[7]
Why an approved address matters
- At least 6 months before parole eligibility, NDOC and the person build a reentry plan. It must include the proposed home, work or income, and treatment.[1]
- If the Board grants parole, NPP reviews and approves the plan. If NPP rejects it, NPP helps make a new one.[1]
- NPP says no inmate may be released on parole, regardless of the eligibility date, until they have a verified placement it has approved.[2]
- The 305, 317 and 184 programs also need an NPP-approved home.[8]
- If the person is indigent and the plan uses transitional housing, the Division may pay part of the cost.[1]

FAQ
Why was parole granted but my loved one is still inside?
NPP must approve the release plan, including the address, before parole release. NPP says no inmate may be released on parole until they have a verified placement approved by the Division.
Can parole pay for transitional housing?
Sometimes. If the person is indigent and the plan uses transitional housing, the Division may pay all or part of the cost, within available resources. It pays the provider directly.
Is Casa Grande a halfway house?
Casa Grande (Las Vegas) and NNTH (Reno) are NDOC facilities. People there are still in NDOC custody. They can work in the community before release.
