Visit-day checklist: Nebraska prisons
What to wear, which ID to bring and what you can carry in, from NDCS's official rules. Pick a prison to add its address, phone and hours. Print it or keep it on your phone.
Before visit day
- ☐ The incarcerated person starts the process by sending you a Visitation Request Form. Fill one out for each adult and minor visitor and mail it to their facility. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- ☐ Approval usually takes 4 to 6 weeks, and the person tells you the result. Visiting lists are deleted when someone is paroled. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- ☐ Check for lockdowns or cancelled visits: Nebraska facility status.
What to wear
- NDCS's dress code isn't on the official pages we could read. Check the official visiting page (opens in new tab) or call the prison before you go.
ID to bring
- ☐ All visitors ages 16 and older must bring a photo ID to every visit. (official source) (opens in new tab)
What you can bring, what stays in the car

More from NDCS on visiting

- ☐ Up to four adults per visit, in person or virtual. Arrive 30 minutes early; late arrivals aren't processed. Visitors 16 and older need photo ID. (official source) (opens in new tab)
