Nebraska state prisons: visiting, mail, money and status
8 NDCS prisons from the official NDCS facility list, checked 2026-10-20.
NDCS incarceration records search (official) (opens in new tab) Nebraska facility status
How to search: enter the person's legal last and first name, or their NDCS ID number if you have it. Nicknames and misspellings usually return nothing; try fewer letters or a different spelling of the name. Use it to get the person's NDCS ID number and facility, which you need for mail and money.
What the dates mean: any dates shown, such as admission, sentence or projected release dates, come from NDCS's own records. Projected dates can change (for example with earned credits, discipline or parole decisions) and are not a guarantee. Ask NDCS or the facility before making plans around a date.
OutSooner does not store or list anyone's name, date of birth or ID number. The search runs on the official site.
How to get release and transfer alerts
NDCS Victim/Witness Notification (official) (opens in new tab)
- Nebraska prisons use NDCS's own Victim/Witness Notification, not VINE. Enrollment is voluntary; fill out the form on the NDCS Victim Services page. Victims, witnesses, family and concerned citizens can enroll.
- NDCS notifies you of community center placement, long furloughs, escape, parole events, release and death. Report any change to your address, email or phone.
- You can also sign up on the state's Nebraska Victims of Crime Alert Portal (NEVCAP).

- Tablets allow messages and video through GettingOut. For phone or email problems, NDCS says to contact ViaPath customer service at 877-650-4249.

In-person visiting
- Schedule visits online from NDCS's visitation page ("Schedule a Visit" under each facility) at least 7 days ahead and up to 4 weeks out. You'll get an email confirmation at least 3 days before.
- Up to four adults per visit, in person or virtual. Arrive 30 minutes early; late arrivals aren't processed. Visitors 16 and older need photo ID.

Becoming an approved visitor
- The incarcerated person starts the process by sending you a Visitation Request Form. Fill one out for each adult and minor visitor and mail it to their facility.
- Approval usually takes 4 to 6 weeks, and the person tells you the result. Visiting lists are deleted when someone is paroled.
