Visit-day checklist: Maine prisons

What to wear, which ID to bring and what you can carry in, from Maine DOC's official rules. Pick a prison to add its address, phone and hours. Print it or keep it on your phone.

Before visit day

  • ☐ Fill out the Adult Facility Visitor Application, sign every page and mail it to the facility. Clearance can take up to six weeks, longer with a record. (official source) (opens in new tab)
  • ☐ Except immediate family, you can be on only one resident's list. Immediate family may get non-contact visits before contact clearance. Falsifying an application means a six-month wait to reapply. (official source) (opens in new tab)
  • ☐ Check for lockdowns or cancelled visits: Maine facility status.
