Louisiana family action plan
One printable plan for the months before and after a loved one comes home from a DPS&C prison: dates, the parole plan, housing, ID, benefits, food, phone, the first 72 hours, and questions for the parole officer.
What this page can and can't tell you
Can: An estimate for planning. Nothing you type is sent to us.
Can't: It can't give an official release date, say whether a specific person qualifies, or give legal advice. Only the DOC, the board or a court decides.
Important: credits are subject to exclusions in the law, can be forfeited, and are applied at the DOC's discretion. Don't make release arrangements based on an estimate. Confirm the date with the DOC.
Free legal help: Legal Services Corporation: find legal aid (civil matters). For criminal cases, ask the public defender's office that handled the case.
How to read this plan: Verified items come from official sources we checked and link to them. Confirm items depend on the person's case, so confirm them with DPS&C, the parole board or the officer. Nothing you enter here is saved or sent; it disappears when you close the page.
