Indiana prison mail & photo rules checker
Tick what you plan to send and see IDOC (Indiana)'s official rules for it before it gets rejected. Pick a prison for its mailing address.
All official mail rules we have for Indiana
- Most facilities use a central mail processing center. Address both letter and envelope: name, DOC number, facility name, PO Box 460, Phoenix, MD 21131. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- The Reception Diagnostic Center has different mailing instructions; check its facility page. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- Personal mail is scanned in color to the person's tablet; originals are kept 30 days, then discarded. After July 31, 2026, personal mail sent to the wrong address is returned. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- Legal mail and packages go directly to the facility. (official source) (opens in new tab)
- Incarcerated individuals may not receive packages from a third-party fulfillment service. (official source) (opens in new tab)
Write the person's name and ID number only on the envelope; this page never asks for them. Rules change and can differ by prison; the prison's posted rules win. Not legal advice. No sponsors or affiliate links. Last checked .
