Indiana IDOC Offender Search (official) (opens in new tab) Indiana facility status

How to search: enter the person's legal last and first name, or their IDOC (Indiana) ID number if you have it. Nicknames and misspellings usually return nothing; try fewer letters or a different spelling of the name. You need the person's DOC number to address mail.

What the dates mean: any dates shown, such as admission, sentence or projected release dates, come from IDOC (Indiana)'s own records. Projected dates can change (for example with earned credits, discipline or parole decisions) and are not a guarantee. Ask IDOC (Indiana) or the facility before making plans around a date.

OutSooner does not store or list anyone's name, date of birth or ID number. The search runs on the official site.

Phone calls and video visits

  • Each person may list up to 20 people and phone numbers they can call.
  • You can receive collect, prepaid collect (AdvancePay) or debit calls. To set up a prepaid account, call ViaPath at (800) 483-8314.
  • To refuse a call, hang up or press 1; to block a facility permanently, press 6 and set a PIN.
  • Video visits (at home or on site, where available) use the same ViaPath registration as in-person visits.

In-person visiting

  • Visiting rules, days and limits are set by each facility; see the facility's page on in.gov.
  • Schedule in-person and video visits on ViaPath's platform. All scheduling uses Eastern Time, even at Central-time facilities.
  • All visitors are subject to search; refusing means no visit. Trafficking leads to prosecution and a permanent visiting ban.

Becoming an approved visitor

  • Every visitor must register for a ViaPath account and be approved before scheduling any visit.
  • Submit the supplemental documents the facility's visitation coordinator asks for; IDOC says missing documents can delay or block approval.
  • IDOC does not publish a typical approval wait time.

Mail

  • Most facilities use a central mail processing center. Address both letter and envelope: name, DOC number, facility name, PO Box 460, Phoenix, MD 21131.
  • The Reception Diagnostic Center has different mailing instructions; check its facility page.
  • Personal mail is scanned in color to the person's tablet; originals are kept 30 days, then discarded. After July 31, 2026, personal mail sent to the wrong address is returned.
  • Legal mail and packages go directly to the facility.
