10 IDOC (Idaho) prisons from the official IDOC (Idaho) facility list, checked 2026-10-20.
IDOC Resident/Client Search (official) (opens in new tab) Idaho facility status
How to search: enter the person's legal last and first name, or their IDOC (Idaho) ID number if you have it. Nicknames and misspellings usually return nothing; try fewer letters or a different spelling of the name. Mail must include the person's last name and IDOC number, plus their facility and unit.
What the dates mean: any dates shown, such as admission, sentence or projected release dates, come from IDOC (Idaho)'s own records. Projected dates can change (for example with earned credits, discipline or parole decisions) and are not a guarantee. Ask IDOC (Idaho) or the facility before making plans around a date.
Release and transfer alerts: Idaho takes part in VINE (official source (opens in new tab)). Families can sign up free on VINELink (opens in new tab) for release, transfer and court-date alerts. It's built mainly for crime victims.
OutSooner does not store or list anyone's name, date of birth or ID number. The search runs on the official site.

Becoming an approved visitor
- Every visitor must pass a background check and complete IDOC's online visiting application, after reading the Visiting Rules. Wait until the person is classified so you know their facility.
- Minors need the minor application, a certified birth certificate, and proof of guardianship or power of attorney if applicable. Approval normally takes two to four weeks, and the person in prison tells you the result.
