District of Columbia release countdown
Enter dates from the official DC DOC record and see the days to go. The dates are kept only in this browser on this device and are never sent to us.
What this page can and can't tell you
Can: An estimate for planning. Nothing you type is sent to us.
Can't: It can't give an official release date, say whether a specific person qualifies, or give legal advice. Only the DOC, the board or a court decides.
Important: credits are subject to exclusions in the law, can be forfeited, and are applied at the DOC's discretion. Don't make release arrangements based on an estimate. Confirm the date with the DOC.
Free legal help: Legal Services Corporation: find legal aid (civil matters). For criminal cases, ask the public defender's office that handled the case.
Estimate, not official. This only counts days to the dates you type. Only DC DOC or the parole board sets release dates, and they can move.
What could change the date in District of Columbia
- Good time credit is available "only as provided in 18 U.S.C. §3624(b)." That is the federal good conduct time of up to 54 days per year of the sentence imposed. (D.C. Code §24-403.01 (sentencing; good time)) (opens in new tab)
- People with nonviolent offenses can get up to a 1-year reduction for completing a substance abuse treatment program under 18 U.S.C. §3621(e)(2). (D.C. Code §24-403.01 (sentencing; good time)) (opens in new tab)
- The 1-year treatment reduction is not available for a "crime of violence" as defined in D.C. law. (D.C. Code §24-403.01 (sentencing; good time)) (opens in new tab)
- The federal First Step Act time credits (18 U.S.C. §3632) apply to federal-code convictions. Whether they apply to D.C. Code offenders depends on BOP policy, so check with BOP.
