Colorado state prisons: visiting, mail, money and status
21 CDOC (Colorado) prisons from the official CDOC (Colorado) facility list, checked 2026-10-20.
CDOC Online Inmate Locator (official) (opens in new tab) Colorado facility status
How to search: enter the person's legal last and first name, or their CDOC (Colorado) ID number if you have it. Nicknames and misspellings usually return nothing; try fewer letters or a different spelling of the name. You'll need the person's DOC number for eMessaging and deposits.
What the dates mean: any dates shown, such as admission, sentence or projected release dates, come from CDOC (Colorado)'s own records. Projected dates can change (for example with earned credits, discipline or parole decisions) and are not a guarantee. Ask CDOC (Colorado) or the facility before making plans around a date.
OutSooner does not store or list anyone's name, date of birth or ID number. The search runs on the official site.
How to get release and transfer alerts
CDOC Victim Notification Program (official) (opens in new tab)
- Colorado prisons use CDOC's own program, not VINE (VINE covers county jails before sentencing). Submit the enrollment form, or email doc_vsuenrollments@state.co.us.
- Include your name, address, phone, email, case number, county, the person's name and DOC number if known, the primary victim and your relationship. You're enrolled once you get an acknowledgement letter.
Victim services contact: CDOC Victim Services, 719-226-4709 or 800-886-7688, doc_vsu@state.co.us
These alerts are built mainly for crime victims. OutSooner does not sign anyone up or store any names. Source: CDOC (official) (opens in new tab) · Last checked

Sending money
- Since May 10, 2026, CorrectPay is CDOC's only deposit provider; JPay, Western Union and ConnectNetwork are no longer supported. Deposit at correctpay.com (select Colorado, the facility, then Commissary Deposit), with the CorrectPay app, or by phone at 1-855-836-3364.
- Money sent before 4 p.m. MT is usually available the next day; CDOC suggests allowing 2 to 3 days.
- CDOC must withhold at least 20% of each deposit toward court-ordered fines, fees, restitution or child support. Sending money to more than one person in custody is restricted.
Fees change. Check the official CDOC (Colorado) page (opens in new tab) for current fees before you pay.

Phone calls and video visits
- CDOC's phone, video visit, tablet and eMessaging provider is Securus. CDOC lists the call rate as $0.014 a minute after HB23-1133.
- People in prison can't receive incoming calls. Write to the person with your number so they can add you to their approved phone list. Three-way calling can get your number suspended.
- Securus eMessaging is one-way: you can send messages to the person's tablet, but they can't reply electronically. Video visit accounts are set up through Securus.

In-person visiting
- Visiting rules follow Administrative Regulation 300-01 (updated for HB 25-1013). Each facility sets its own schedule and visit limits based on space and staffing.
- A dress code applies to contact, non-contact and video visits. Other than vending machine items, nothing may be exchanged during a visit.

Becoming an approved visitor
- Complete Visitor Application AR 300-01A and return it, signed, to the person's facility with a copy of your current photo ID. One adult per application.
- Minors visiting with an adult who isn't their guardian need Form AR 300-01F signed by a parent or guardian. Background checks are repeated yearly, and visitors who haven't visited in a year become inactive and must reapply.

- Send mail to the person at their assigned facility with your return address; mail without one may be rejected.
- All incoming non-legal mail at CDOC facilities is photocopied; the person gets the copy and the original is destroyed. Photos must come from an approved vendor.
