About this facility
Joseph Harp Correctional Center (JHCC), a medium-security prison for men, opened in 1978 on the site of a World War II-era U.S. Navy firing range in Lexington. The prison’s namesake, Joseph Harp, was an Oklahoma State Reformatory warden from 1949 to 1969, where he started the nation's first fully accredited high school education program in a prison. [ODOC]
Visiting
- Visiting applications go to the ODOC Visitation Unit, P.O. Box 11400, Oklahoma City, OK 73136-0400, not to the facility or the inmate. [ODOC visitation]
- Visitors 18 and older need a background check; approval can take up to 90 days. The inmate tells you when you are approved and when visits are scheduled.
- Visitors bringing minors must bring documents showing guardianship.
- Personal mail from family and friends does not go to the facility. ODOC scans it at its digital mail center: Inmate's full name + ODOC number, Securus Digital Mail Center - OK Dept of Corrections, PO Box 223566, Dallas, TX 75222-3566. [ODOC digital mail]
- Legal mail, business correspondence, and documents needing a signature go to the facility (mailing address: P.O. Box 548, Lexington, OK 73051). [ODOC digital mail]
