New Jersey prison mail & photo rules checker

Tick what you plan to send and see NJDOC (New Jersey)'s official rules for it before it gets rejected. Pick a prison for its mailing address.

What are you sending?

All official mail rules we have for New Jersey

  • Personal letters go to Pigeonly Corrections, NJDOC's mail vendor, not the prison: the person's name and SBI number, the facility name and code, PO Box 96777, Las Vegas, NV 89193. Facility codes are on the NJDOC page. (official source) (opens in new tab)
  • Use envelopes no larger than 4 x 9.5 inches, with your return address. Photos must be 4 x 6 (10 max). No glitter, stickers, staples, Polaroids or books. (official source) (opens in new tab)
  • Since Sept. 15, 2026, packages, books, magazines and legal mail go to the Centralized Search and Sorting Center, 55 Hogback Rd, Crosswicks, NJ 08515, and must come from approved sellers. (official source) (opens in new tab)
  • All publications (books, magazines, publications with a spine, newspapers) must be sent directly by the source of sale (vendor, distributor, publisher) to the CSSC for processing. (official source) (opens in new tab)

Write the person's name and ID number only on the envelope; this page never asks for them. Rules change and can differ by prison; the prison's posted rules win. Not legal advice. No sponsors or affiliate links. Last checked .
