Georgia release countdown
Enter dates from the official GDC record and see the days to go. The dates are kept only in this browser on this device and are never sent to us.
What this page can and can't tell you
Can: An estimate for planning. Nothing you type is sent to us.
Can't: It can't give an official release date, say whether a specific person qualifies, or give legal advice. Only the DOC, the board or a court decides.
Important: credits are subject to exclusions in the law, can be forfeited, and are applied at the DOC's discretion. Don't make release arrangements based on an estimate. Confirm the date with the DOC.
Free legal help: Legal Services Corporation: find legal aid (civil matters). For criminal cases, ask the public defender's office that handled the case.
Estimate, not official. This only counts days to the dates you type. Only GDC or the parole board sets release dates, and they can move.
What could change the date in Georgia
- Eligible people are considered for parole automatically. The Board may set a Tentative Parole Month or deny parole. (Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles: FAQ) (opens in new tab)
- A TPM is not a final grant. The Board can change it at any time before release. (Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles: FAQ) (opens in new tab)
- The Board uses Parole Decision Guidelines (crime severity and risk score) but can depart from them. (Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles: Parole consideration and guidelines) (opens in new tab)
- Rehabilitative efforts can move a TPM up a few months under the Performance Incentive Credit Program. (Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles: Parole consideration and guidelines) (opens in new tab)
- Serious violent felonies (murder, rape, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, armed robbery, kidnapping) committed on or after Jan 1, 1995, with a non-life sentence: no parole, 100% of the term. (Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles: FAQ) (opens in new tab)
- Also not eligible: recidivists sentenced after a fourth felony, life without parole, and death sentences. (Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles: FAQ) (opens in new tab)
