Most Arizona prisoners earn 1 day of earned release credit for every 6 days served. Certain drug-possession cases earn 3 days for every 7 days.[1]

Credit types and rates
- Standard rate: 1 day for every 6 days served, including time in county jail.[1]
- Enhanced rate: 3 days for every 7 days, if all three apply: the sentence is for personal possession/use of drugs or paraphernalia (§§13-3405(A)(1), 13-3407(A)(1), 13-3408(A)(1), 13-3415), the person completed a drug treatment or other major self-improvement program, and the person has no prior violent or aggravated felony conviction.[1]
- The director can forfeit credits after a reclassification for rule violations or for refusing work, education, treatment or training programs. Forfeited credits can be restored at the director's discretion.[1]

How to find a release date
- Search the official ADCRR Inmate Datasearch by name or ID number.
- Look for the projected release, parole eligibility, or discharge date. The DOC record already includes credits it has awarded.
- For questions, contact the facility records office. Only DOC can correct a date.

FAQ
What percentage of a sentence do you serve in Arizona?
At the standard 1-for-6 rate, the earned release date comes after about 85.7% of the term (6 of every 7 days). The 3-for-7 rate is for qualifying drug-possession cases only.
Do earned release credits shorten the Arizona sentence?
They set an earlier release from prison to community supervision. They do not reduce the court's term of imprisonment.
Who gets 3 days for 7?
People sentenced for drug or paraphernalia possession/use under the listed statutes who completed a treatment or major self-improvement program and have no prior violent or aggravated felony.
What this site can't do
| Issue | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Discipline and lost credits | We cannot see write-ups, forfeitures or restored credits. Only the facility record shows them. |
| Detainers and holds | Warrants, immigration holds or other-state detainers can block release. They are not in public data. |
| Consecutive and concurrent sentences | How sentences stack changes every date. We do not recompute aggregated sentences. |
| Parole board discretion | Eligibility is not release. Boards decide, and can deny or defer. |
| Jail credit errors | Pretrial credit is set by the court. Errors must be fixed through the court or records office. |
| Recent law changes | New laws, court rulings and DOC policy changes can take weeks to reach records. |
| Individual legal advice | We explain public rules. A lawyer or the DOC records office can apply them to one case. |
Always confirm dates with the official DOC records office.
